For some reason today I feel like I spoke a lot more English than I normally do. I also realize that there is a significant cultural barrier between myself and my Laoshi. Trying to explain that my parents are divorced and that my Dad is remarried was much harder than I thought it should be. It is fairly uncommon here and the concept of restarting with another person is odd. Anyway my introduction project is coming along quite nicely. We’ll see how this turns out even with the major cultural barriers. Tomorrow I will post the speech with the translation. Should be lots of fun! I may bring my camera and ask someone to record it, we’ll see how brave I am feeling as you will see me get to stumble through my speech.

Wandered around with Sean today after class, he is leaving in 8 days. It’s strange as this all started because he went to Taiwan and joking said I should come visit him. Never give me a challenge unless you want me attempt it. I am going to miss him, but I will see him again when classes start up. Mikki joined us and we wandered around Gong Guan got some yummy vegetarian food, much less expensive than the one in Shida. The owner asked after my nationality and I got to say it in Mandarin. I was very pleased about it, I really like when people ask me questions in Mandarin. Not so much when it’s in English. With Sean and Mikki we are planning to go to Jiufen, the place that inspired the Miyazaki film Spirited Away. I am so freaking excited!! It’s gonna be an epic weekend for sure. Now to just make it through the week, one more chapter test on Friday, everything is going so fast!
