Day 56 -- July 19

I had breakfast at the bagel shop, I was just really hunkering for eggs and bread. It worked out well for me. I also talked to the lady who always takes my order, she wanted to know my name. She gave me my coffee and said to me “I’ll see you Monday, Si Hua (my Chinese name)”. That was a really awesome feeling having someone want to know who I was. Test days are always interesting. There isn’t much homework just studying but for some reason these days always feel overwhelming. We also had a three hour review in class. I did alright on the test. I think the class is a little bit frustrated simply because we are moving so fast. I will figure it out though, I am probably learning more than I realize but in the moment it is very difficult. We are going to be finishing the book soon we go all the way to chapter 12 so only 3 more chapters for this book. Intensive classes are definitely named accurately, at orientation the lady had joked that this was torture. While not excruciatingly painful I could see not everyone enjoying or learning from this style class.
Different Culture...

After class I went back to the dorms and met up with Johnny. We were off to the Shilin night market. Johnny was going to buy a bag and I am always in search of new places to explore. We only wandered around for a couple of hours so I think I will go back at a different time and really do some exploring. I am going to log it away as a good place to buy souvenirs. I also love trying night market food, it’s an adventure to be sure. When we got back Johnny was hankering for hamburgers and I hadn’t had one in a while so I went for it. It was pretty good but really heavy for my tastes, I am getting way to used to smaller portions. After that it was actually getting fairly late and I went back to the dorm. I chatted a bit with my roommates, dueled a cockroach and watched some Chinese dramas. It’s really nice that it is the weekend, I think I really needed this break. I am off tomorrow to Wu Fenpu again, this time with Jillian, I some how became the go to person in going to this shopping district. I guess we all have our markets. It’s gonna be fun!
