Sean, James, and Johnny were in search of some breakfast/lunch so we all hit the pavement in search of food. James and Johnny picked up the 7/11 coffee while Sean and I went to the bun stand. I got a peanut butter bun and only 20 NT! We all made our way back to the lobby, ate and chatted. I always have such fun with them, they are really amusing and they all have such great stories to tell. It was super hot today, so we decided that leaving and exploring was perhaps a disastrous idea. So I headed back for some homework time.
At about 5:30 I headed out to go pay the dorm utility bill and go to the MRT. I was off to Yen’s house (read: apartment, but in the city that is a house) for dinner. Tonight is her last night in Taiwan, so we wanted to have an evening in. The food was so good, nothing beats home-made food. Everyone commented that it seemed I had lost weight, which I really hadn’t noticed. I suppose I have considering everything. Yen told her parents how I was living off 150 NT a day and also running again. They were so shocked, so much so that they gave me food from their pantry. It was soooo sweet of them I was absolutely floored.
After dinner Yen and I went to study. We sat down in the lobby for maybe and hour and practiced my pronunciation. We talked about Yen going back. Overall it was a nice hour, we then head up. Yen made a comment about the bites on my legs from the many indigenous insects. My legs have many bites, Yen told her parents and after seeing my legs I was given some herbal medicine to put on my legs as well as a small device that releases bug repelling odors for my dorm. They were so nice to me. I told Yen I was going to be meeting some friends and that she come with me. After a few minutes she decided that she too would also go.
We headed out about 9ish and I made a quick stop at a 7/11 to make my first withdrawal. I showed up here with $500 US and managed to make it last for two weeks including a $230-ish US dorm fee, having to buy a mattress to sleep on and being forced to eat out at every meal. I think I did really well. Now that the big spending is behind me, I think I’ll be able to make this withdrawal last. So Yen and I headed back to the dorms to meet up with Jillian and Nick.
We stayed in the lobby for a awhile, thinking that maybe Johnny, James and Sean would materialize, but alas they got lost on the path of life. So we headed out for a very lovely park, it was peaceful. The wildlife was fairly tame though the slugs here are huge!! We set up with some drinks and sat down to play rummy.
The game lasted a good couple hours but I had a great time. We were joking, trying to learn the game. It was a good memorable night. It was about one in the morning when we finally wrapped up the shenanigans. We walked back to Shida dorms. I said good bye to Yen and wished her a safe journey back to the States. I wandered back and showered and I am now ready for sleep. Good night!
