I ran into Chloë on my way out to find food. I intended to say good bye as today was her last day in Taiwan. I then hit the streets for some grub. As it turns out not much is open of a drizzly day at 11:30 am. Perhaps that is the most frustrating thing I have encounter, people here don’t really have breakfast restaurants or if they do it’s incredible expensive. I managed to scrounge up a little bit of food then wander back to the dorms. I ran into both Alex and Chloë who were on their way out to find food. I decided I would go with them
We finally stopped at a little Korean shop that was actually open at this time We order and got served some very hot and spicy food. It was good, my food I ordered came to me still boiling! We had a laugh about that. In terms of food I’ve had in Taiwan this wasn’t on the top ten, I am such a street food junkie! We finished our meal and I headed back to study before class. I used the pen and looked over the homework for an hour then walked over to class.
Class was incredibly enjoyable, I really enjoy my classmates and teacher. Today we learned in Taiwan xiao jie, young woman, is a polite way to call women, but in China it’s slang for prostitute. Though the word our teacher choose to use was ‘hooker’, that had us in stitches for a little. Chen Laoshi is a very proper Taiwanese women and to hear her say hooker made all the English speakers giggled. We also got a bit of treat for the Dragon boat festival. We were given Zongzi. They are heated up rice balls with spices and different foods in them. It was delicious and they were all hand made. It was rocking my world.
After class we decided that we would all meet at the Taipower Building station tomorrow at 1. That way we could all go to the festival together. It’ll be a lot of fun I hope. After that i headed back to my dorm. After a few quick Facebook discussions I headed out to work out with Sean, James and Johnny. We ended up running for a bit, it was still drizzling rain, had been all day. After that I snuck back into the dorms and took a quick shower. I had a stand off with a spider in the stall but it left me alone. Spiders scare me so bad, it’s really pathetic.
After the shower I hit Alex up. We met up in the lobby a hunkered down for some shows. We watched Ms. Brown’s Boys and Fawlty Towers. Both of which were absolutely hysterical. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long while. We sat around for a little while just chatting and enjoying ourselves. Eventually I'll head off to bed. Tomorrow should be a good day!
